Finetuning using AFP/D

The Deproni for AeroFly Professional:

The Deproni for AeroFly Professional Deluxe:

After starting the first time you will see, that the model has too much power and the center of gravity is not correct.

We can do some tuning using the model editor (please read the manual for detailed information!).
Press Edit aircraft and you will get the following picture:

Fine_AFP_Start

You can see, that the model has a gross weight (Gesamtgewicht) of 184 g, a wingspan (Spannweite) of 120 cm and a length (Länge) of about 88 cm.

A click on Objects (Bauteile) will show you, which parts of the model you can change:
Fuselage (Rumpf)
Left wing (Tragflaeche links)
Right wing (Tragflaeche rechts)
Left stabilizer (Leitwerk links)
Right stabilizer (Leitwerk rechts)
Stabilizer (Seitenleitwerk)
Propeller (Propeller)
Engine (Motor).

Fine_AFP_Parts

At first we will have a look at the incidence of the wing:

Fine_AFP_TF_Li_EWD_01

Fine_AFP_TF_Re_EWD_01

What’s that? 0.1 deg for the left wing and 0.7 deg for the right one? The angles should be identical! Try to set both values to 0.0 deg.
It will not be possible, you will see other values each time!??
Try the left and right stabilizer now: you will get the same problem.
What happened?
Go back to MetasequoiaLE and have a look to the wings:

Fine_AFP_TF_Li_01

The front of the wings have a vertical face with 3 lines one upon the other! AFP needs a single line to calculate the exact position of the wing!
So select the middle line and move it a little bit to the Z-direction:

Fine_AFP_TF_Li_02

Do the same with left and right stabilizer.

Fine_AFP_LS_01

Fine_AFP_LS_02

Save the new mqo, convert the model to a new obj file, move the new object file to the folder AS_Deproni and start AFP again.
Now it looks much better:

Fine_AFP_TF_Li_EWD_02

Fine_AFP_TF_Re_EWD_02

Set the left and right stabilizer to 0.4 deg.

Fine_AFP_HL_Li_EWD_02

Fine_AFP_HL_Re_EWD_0203

Select the fuselage and set the CG (center of gravity) to the values shown below..

Fine_AFP_SP_0103

Fine_AFP_Fus_01

Fine_AFP_Fus_02

Fine_AFP_Fus_03

Set the propeller to a diameter of 10 inch and a pitch of 4.3 inch.

Fine_AFP_Prop_01

Fine_AFP_Prop_02

Reduce the engine idle to 700 rpm.

Fine_AFP_Mot_01

Now it’s done!

With these values you will have a proper flying DEPRONI!

The Deproni for AeroFly Professional Deluxe:

We can take the model from AFP as basis.

What have we to change?

Remember: the tmg file has additional entries: Shiny = 0.00 or Shiny = 0.25 (See the section The TMG-file).

You will get the the airplane more plastic by changing the object file:

#
# Object Fuselage
#
g Fuselage
texture Deproni.bmp 1 1
ambient 1.00 1.00 1.00 change these entries to ambient 0.60 0.60 0.60
diffuse 1.00 1.00 1.00 1.00
specular 1.00 1.00 1.00
shininess 0.20

The only parameter I changed was setting the incidence of the left and right stabilizer to 0.0. I have the impression that the Deproni then flies a little bit better in indoor-sceneries.

That’s all!

Flying the Deproni in AFPD can look like this:
