‘Painting’ of an AFP/D-model

Applying textures using MetasequoiaLE R2.1 by the example of my Twinstar.

This is the topview of my Twinstar:

Twinstar_0102

and this the bottom-view:

Twinstar_0202

Have a look to the AS_Twinstar.bmp:

Twinstar_0003

Now we want to paint the left wing.

Assign for this in MetasequoiaLE the bmp to a material, which in my example is called 'Dekor'.

Twinstar_0304

If you push the button 'Show', you will get this:

Twinstar_0402

Now make visable the two objects 'Leftwing' and 'Leftaileron'. It will look like this, if no material is chosen:

Twinstar_0503

Then select both objects (Button 'Rect' from the Command-Panel, push left mouse-button and catch both objects):

Twinstar_0602

After this action both objects are marked with green lines:

Twinstar_0702

Now choose the material 'Dekor', press ‘Selected’ from the menu-bar and then ‘set material to faces’ from the pulldown-menu.

Now press the button 'Map' from the Command-Panel and set the hook for ‘Realtime’ in the new appearing window 'Mapping'. After this you will see something like this:

Twinstar_0802

Press now 'Property' in the mapping-window and set all parameters 'Size' to 50 and the parameter 'Pich' to 90.0. Now it looks like that:

Twinstar_0902

Set the parameter 'Bank' to 90.0, press 'Apply' and then 'Move' in the Mapping-Panel. Afterwards you see the following:

Twinstar_1003

Now you have to choose the correct size (in this case: 300), and the left wing will have the desired signature:

Twinstar_1103

Now press at the same time the buttons ‚Shift’ and ‚F2’, in order to see the lower surface of the left wing. Unfortunately this has the same signature, however mirror-inverted!

Twinstar_1202

Now you only have to select the faces, which are to get another ' painting'. For this use the function 'Select' from the Mapping-Window.

Twinstar_1302

Press the button 'Move' from the Mapping-Window and move the correct signature to the right place.

Now you have different signatures on the lower surface and on the top side:

Twinstar_1404

Twinstar_1602

In the same way you can ‘paint’ now every other object of you model.

I hope, this will help you (and many other people too)!

Arthu
